The Top 10 Most Expensive Cars in the World (And Who Drives Them)

When you have a lot of money, one of the staple items you own is a luxurious car. And when you have billions of dollars to your name, that car can be the fanciest, most luxurious thing one could ever imagine.

Today’s supercars, whose prices go up to the tens of millions, are just a breath away from driving themselves around and offer luxuries that can compete with the everyman’s home.

ADVERSTISEMENT

We are counting down the top 10 most expensive cars and their owners!

10. Pagani Huayra BC

Price: $2.8m

The Pagani Huayra is the most expensive car its Italian manufacturer has ever made. It is named as a tribute to Benny Caiola – an Italian investor and a friend of Horacio Pagani. He is rumored to have an incredible collection of Ferraris.

The BC model is lighter than the standard Huayra, and it has an insane 790 brake horsepower. No wonder it gets the name “Huayra” from the Incan god of wind. Lookers reports that the supercar is owned by an unnamed American real estate tycoon in Connecticut, who has nicknamed the car “the King.”

9. Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio

Motor 1

Price: $3m

The car’s concept hit the markets in 2013, in memory of the son of the founder of Pininfarina, founder of the famous design house. Even though the model has been available as a concept for a long time now, only six of them have ever been made, thus making the Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio one of the most coveted luxury cars.

The six lucky owners’ names are undisclosed, but they have been handpicked by the manufacturers themselves, making this car one of the most exclusive vehicles on the market. All we know about the owners is that the first one went to the United Arab Emirates, three to the USA, one to Japan, and one to Switzerland.

8. Aston Martin Valkyrie

Price: $3.2m

Beautiful Life reports that there is no actual price tag on this Aston Martin model, but experts put its price at around $3.2m. The Valkyrie is a result of a partnership between Red Bull Racing and the car company. Rumor has it that the car’s concept was agreed upon over drinks between Andy Palmer, Aston Martin’s president, and Adrian Newey and Christian Horner of Red Bull

The Valkyrie is meant to be a supercar that can hold its own on race tracks as well. It is a limited-edition hybrid sports car, of which the company planned to produce only 150, most of which are getting to their owners this year. In 2017, a Valkyrie-inspired model appeared in the game Grand Theft Auto V.

7. Lykan Hypersport

Price: $3.4m

The first Arab supercar, the Lycan Hypersport was built by W Motors of Lebanon. The price point to this vehicle is incredibly high, in part because of its design. Its headlights are made of 240 15-carat diamonds, and, similarly, the LED blades consist of 420 15-carat diamonds.

Although it doesn’t come from the usual European pedigree, it is a very impressive car, with an angular design and scissor doors that lend it a futuristic look. One of these cars was featured in the movie Furious 7 and one was drafted and modified to be a police car for the United Arab Emirates.

6. Bugatti Veyron by Mansory Vivere

Price: $3.4m

The Mansory Vivere version of the Bugatti Veyron is not only one of the most expensive cars in the world, but it is also one of the fastest. It has the same engine as the standard Veyron does, and its top speed is 253mph. It has been named the Car of the Decade 2000-2009.

The Veyron has been around since 2005, but it has received many modifications over the years, changing its body kit and interior design. One of its lucky owners is Houston Crosta, who owns a car rental company in Las Vegas. Crosta is only 30 years old, so this purchase is quite impressive!

5. McLaren P1 LM

Price: $3.6m

The McLaren P1 LM is not a production car; it is actually a street-legal version of the McLaren P1 GTR, which is only meant for the race tracks. It was made for a select group of buyers from the US, UK, Japan, and the UAE.

According to Beautiful Life, the car weighs 60 kg less than the F1 version. It can produce 1,000 horsepower, and its modified rear wing and enlarged front splitter join with the dive planes to generate 40% increased downforce as compared to the P1 GTR. So far, only 5 units of the P1 LM have been produced. The buyers are not disclosed as of yet.

4. Lamborghini Veneno Roadster

4. Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
Motor 1

Price: $4.5m

The Spanish word “veneno” translates to poison, which is a suitable word to describe the futuristic and slick design of the car. It was released in celebration of the company’s 50th birthday. The car is incredibly powerful; it can reach 60mph in under 3 seconds, with 780 horsepower to drive it.

Its design is eye-catching. With large exposed air ducts at its sides and straight edges and a sharp figure, it’s reminiscent of the Bat Mobile! Only 9 of this supercar have been made, and one of them has been resold for over $9.8m, more than 200% of its original value.

3. Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita

Price: $4.8m

The Trevita is the most expensive street-legal car in the world, in part because it is coated in diamonds. The carbon fiber used during production is indeed covered in diamond dust, invented specifically for the Trevita. Due to this new technology, the car has a unique shine and slickness to it, which makes it stand out among its fellow supercars.

Even though the design is unique and breathtaking, there are only two Trevitas in the world. Initially, the plan was to make 3, but the diamond-dusted carbon fiber technology takes a very long time to create, so one of the initial three buyers backed out of the deal.

2. Rolls-Royce Sweptail

2. Rolls-Royce Sweptail
Motor 1

Price: $13m

The incredibly high price for this Rolls-Royce is justified by the fact that it was requested by a specific customer, with their own specifications. The company did not divulge the buyer’s name, so sadly we don’t know who owns this incredible luxury car.

Even though the price is incredibly high, the car doesn’t have too many noteworthy specifications. The buyer also collects yachts and enjoyed the look of the ‘20s and ‘30s Rolls-Royce models, so the Sweptail is inspired by that time period, and its sunroof tapers down sharply in the back, thus giving it a look similar to racing yachts.

Price: $18.7m

The Rolls-Royce Sweptail was dethroned as the world’s most expensive car only in 2019, by the La Voiture Noire, which translates to “the black car”. It was unveiled in March 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show as a tribute to the manufacturer’s Type 57 SC Atlantic from the 1930s

There will only be one made of the La Voiture Noire, and it is the one that was exhibited. Bugatti disclosed that the car was already purchased by an anonymous male buyer, before it was even manufactured. Rumor has it that the proud owner is Ferdinand Piech, former chairman of Volkswagen Group, the company behind Bugatti, but this is not confirmed.
